COMPAGNO Scipione (Attributed to) (Naples 1624? - after 1680) The stoning of Saint Stephen Oil on panel. Two horizontal boards. Flooring (small restorations) Height: 55,3 cm - Width: 46,5 cm To be compared with two compositions attributed to Scipione Compagno, active in Naples between 1631 and 1658, the Martyrdom of Saint January (Canvas; 230 x 131 cm) from the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Besançon, in which the same dramatic effect can be observed around the Trinity of sulphurous and shadowy light; and the martyrdom of Saint January and his companions from the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes with its play of light and dark sinuantautour of figures (Canvas; 230 x 131 cm): 57 x 87 cm) (Cf.
