General Abbatucci at Age 23 and Portrait of a Gentleman with the Legion of Honor
Bronze busts with a brown patina that may form a pair

The second is signed and dated 1853 on the underside, with the mark of the Ecket Durand foundry
H: 26.5 and 29 cm
Known for his depictions of historical figures, Dubray also sculpted Emperor Napoleon on horseback, Empress Josephine, the jurist Robert Pothier, and Colonel Louis Rossel, who distinguished himself during the Paris Commune.
He is the creator of several monumental sculptures in Corsica, including Abbatucci on the eponymous square in Ajaccio. Dubray also created the marble bust of the general, of which our bronze is a smaller version. It is currently on display in the Gallery of Battles at the Palace of Versailles.
