On the side: Jean Cocteau, Daum France on the base Restorations Height: 25.5 cm Note: In Greek mythology, Melicertes was a young prince of Thebes who, to escape the murderous madness of his father Athamas, was cast into the sea by his mother Ino. Moved by their tragic fate, Poseidon rescued him from the waters and transformed him into a sea god who protects sailors, under the name Palemon.
