Model 1853 naval officer’s saber. - Lot 51
Model 1853 naval officer’s saber. Chiseled and gilded bronze mount. Oval pommel joined to the guard with interlaced motifs. Chiseled joint arch connecting the openwork pommel decorated with a naval anchor. Slightly curved quillon decorated with a sea dog motif. Horn tang (filigree missing). Slightly curved blade manufactured in Klingenthal. Scabbard with three chiseled brass fittings featuring a naval anchor and interlaced patterns. France, Third Republic period. A junior officer’s sword knot is included.
