Senior Officer's Sword. Chiseled and silver-plated metal mountings with mother-of-pearl inlays. Crossguard in the shape of a crook, a ball-shaped joint arch, and a lion’s-head quillon. Guard depicting a scene of a man setting out on a military campaign, bidding farewell to his wife and daughter. Wooden panels covered with plain mother-of-pearl inlays. Straight blade with a triangular cross-section, blued, chiseled, and gilded one-third of the way up; made in Solingen. Leather scabbard with two silver-plated fittings. France, First Empire period.
