Prussian officer’s saber, Model 1889. - Lot 32
Prussian officer’s saber, Model 1889. Brass and shagreen mountings. The pommel features a skirt; the crossguard has a single short prong connecting to the hinged guard plate, which is chiseled with a Prussian eagle motif. Wooden tang covered with filigree-patterned shagreen. Blade with two fuller grooves. Black-painted iron scabbard with a single ferrule. Prussia, late 19th to early 20th century. A 20th-century German sword strap is included.
