[ Ex-libris ]. HENNEZEL d'ORMOIS (Vicomte de). The Bibliophiles of the Pays Laonnois. Their bookplates and binding irons. Première série. Paris, Société Française des Collectionneurs d'Ex-libris, 1914. Exceptional copy from the author with a long dispatch. "This copy of my work on the "Bibliophiles Laonnois" is the reunion of the "good sheets" sent by the printer before the print run. In 1914, I had it bound and interleaved with white paper to record any corrections I might discover. Throughout the war, the volume remained with my bookbinder, Boilot, on rue de Seine. When I went to take delivery in 1919, the old bookbinder had died of grief following the death of his son at Verdun. It was his widow who gave me the volume. "To my friend, Commandant de Buttet, to replace the copy he had subscribed in 1914, which disappeared during the war, and, above all, as a token of gratitude for the hospitality received in his home during the summer of 1937". In-4, bound in wine-colored half-chagrin, four-ribbed spine underlined with the author's coat of arms. Cover preserved. Ex-libris of the author. Limited edition of 100 numbered and subscribed copies, mostly composed of articles published in the Archives de la Société Française des Collectionneurs d'Ex-libris from 1908 to 1913.
