Louis-Philippe I, nicknamed the "Citizen-King", reigned over France from 1830 to 1848 after the revolution of the Three Glorious Years. Born of the House of Orléans, he embodied a more liberal monarchy, based on a parliamentary regime and the rise of the bourgeoisie. His reign was accompanied by major economic transformations linked to the Industrial Revolution. However, social inequalities and the refusal to extend suffrage undermined his power. He abdicated in 1848 in the face of a new revolution, marking the end of monarchy in France.
