Full sow-skin binding, cold-stamped on period wood, boards richly decorated with fillet and frieze frames, including a frieze with allegories of Charity, Faith and Hope framing the portrait of Luther, finely engraved brass spandrels with bouillons, monogrammed B.H., engraved metal clasps, all edges black chased and gilded with a semiset of flowers, spine with 6 nerves. (some rubbing and soiling to binding, bumping to brooches, some foxing).
