Large, sturdy folio, first edition of this text conceived, written, and illustrated by Salvador Dalí in Port Lligat, Paris, and New York in 1971–1972, illustrated with 11 original drypoint engravings with photogravure, some in color and gold, others forming a fold-out pop-up, one as a polyptych accompanied by a mirror, each justified and signed in pencil by the artist and bearing the bailiff’s stamp on the reverse, as well as a composition in intaglio-molded plastic. The text in loose-leaf sheets housed in folders with flaps and colored spines.
The set forms a book-object housed in a methacrylate case-suitcase designed by Henri Mercher, with clasps and a handle featuring a silver-plated metal telephone cast by Keusseyan.
Limited edition of 250 numbered copies on hand-made Auvergne paper, Vélin Narcisse grand demi Jésus Richard de Bas, signed by the artist, the publisher, and the notary on the certification page; this copy is No. 8.
