JOUVE Paul, 1878–1973 Lioness on the prowl, circa 1970 pen, India ink, and oil on paper mounted on cardboard, signed lower right image size: 24x19.5cm - Total dimensions: 24x20.5cm We thank Mr. Dominique Suisse for confirming the authenticity of this work and for the information he provided. HISTORY: Paul Jouve injured his wrist in December 1969 and had to learn to write with his left hand while waiting to regain the dexterity of his right hand. It was not until the end of 1970 that he regained his dexterity and the ability to draw again. Our drawing was likely created shortly before this accident and signed afterward, which explains the shaky signature on this work.
