Volunteer officer's saber, known as the Lafayette model. Gilt bronze Montmorency-style mounting. Long-tailed cap with lion's head. Flat jointed bow with two branches joined by a medallion featuring Lafayette's profile, the arms of Paris and Bastille. Wooden spindle covered with basane and alternating double brass filigree. Blade with hollow sides and gutter. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings. Total length: 89 cm 20th century production.
