Attached: a L.A.S. from Courier, dated April 16, 1794, from the camp of Blies-Castel (one and a half pages in-8). In the spring of 1794, Courier left the Thionville garrison to join the Moselle army, which he joined at the Blies-Castel camp. It was then that he saw war for the first time, and learned to sleep in the bivouac next to his cannons (Mémoires, t. I, p. 19). 9785/244
