DAUBAN Jules Joseph, attributed to, Tête de la Vierge, études de mains, study in black pencil and white chalk on bluish paper, unsigned, annotated upper right: mort du Christ, verso bears the stamp of the Paul and Florence Vercier collection (L.3607), no. 2488, 46.5x30.5 cm. HISTORY: This head study is to be compared with the figure of the Virgin Mary in the painting Le Christ en Croix (Christ on the Cross), decoration for the Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile church, of which a painted sketch was made in 1874 and is conserved at the Musée du Petit-Palais in Paris.
