French school, 17th century Saint Bruno Refuses the Archbishopric of Reggio Sanguine and white highlights 440 x 300 mm. Provenance: Zamboni Marseille, acquired March 14, 1963; Collection Paul et Florence Vercier (L. 3607), no. 110. Eustache Lesueur produced a series of compositions illustrating the life of Saint Bruno for the Petit Cloître des Chartreux in Paris. Le Sueur's painting is in the Louvre (INV 8041). This composition was engraved by François Chauveau.
