French school, 17th century The life of Saint Bruno: Saint Bruno giving the habit after Eustache LESUEUR Sanguine and white highlights 450 x 300 mm. Provenance : Zamboni, Marseille, acquired March 14, 1964; Paul and Florence Vercier Collection (L. 3607), no. 109. Bibliography: Le dessin [XVIe - XXe siècle] à travers une collection havraise, 1987, n°141. Eustache Lesueur created a series of compositions illustrating the life of Saint Bruno for the Petit Cloître des Chartreux in Paris. A drawing of the same composition as this one by Eustache Lesueur is in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (INV30772). This composition was engraved by François Chauveau.
