Suite of seven hammam towels and sash belts, Ottoman Empire, Turkey and Greece, late 19th - early 20th century
Unbleached cotton or linen weaves embroidered at both ends with polychrome silk threads and metallic lamellae or threads. The decorations are respectively composed of grapevines, three bouquets of flowers in vases, four roses wrapped in a serrated saz leaf, two compositions with stylized flower vases populated by birds, a stylized floral composition punctuated by four bright pink rosettes, four large flowers framed by geometric friezes, and two bright pink flowers emerging from a vase. Among the seven pieces, a large one is sewn in two strips and edged with bangs trimmed with turquoise pearls, and another of the same type is fragmentary.

Some stains and wetness, small accidents and traces of wear on some, felt-tip inscription "Gülsen" [?] on one piece, one fragmentary piece.
