Charles Guillaume DIEHL (1811-1885)
Cigar cellar on a cabinet-like wooden base, decorated with beaded friezes, numerous war scenes and antique-style armor and silvered bronze sphinxes. It opens with two front panels containing 31 wooden racks for 13 cigars each, and two side panels concealing four deep drawers each.
The four legs of the base are joined by a cross brace at the center of which is a medallion depicting an antique scene. The base opens with a drawer in the waistband.
Stamped "Diehl Paris 19 rue Michel le Comte" on the top of the base drawer lock.
