MARIAN (Matthaüs). Todten-Tanz. Wie derselbe in der löblichen und weitberühmten Stadt Basel, als ein Spiegel Menschlicher Beschaffenheit, gantz Künstlich gemahlet, zu sehen ist. Frankfurt, M. Merian 1649. In-8, fourth edition of the "Danse de morts de Bale", edited by Merian, for which he had the plates re-engraved, illustrated with 42 mid-page engravings and two additional engravings specific to this edition featuring a Memento Mori and the famous double-meaning plate "Non sum sicunt caeteri homines" featuring the face of a man and revealing the face of Death once the engraving has been turned over. Bound in full later vellum, smooth titled spine. (some soiling, wear and small tears in margins, restored tears to leaves 115 and 117).
