OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONNAL " SEPT. 11 2001 " Steel chronograph wristwatch, matte black dial, minute track with white lines, tachymeter scale on aluminum bezel, luminescent (Luminova) painted hour markers, small seconds at nine o'clock, 30-minute chronograph totalizer at three o'clock and 12-hour totalizer at six o'clock, white hands. Screw-down steel caseback, engraved and painted decoration of the American flag with the words "NEW YORK IS STILL HERE" in commemoration of the September 11 attacks, numbered 026, serial number 77010939. Soft-iron dust cover, mechanical hand-wound Omega caliber 1861 chronograph movement numbered 77010939. Leather strap, steel folding clasp signed Omega. Watch functional at time of appraisal, but no guarantee of future operation or condition of parts. Scratches to case. This watch appears to be a commemorative piece designed by Omega after the September 11 attacks. A similar piece was sold by Monaco Legend Group in a prototype version with red dial and "archive extract". According to our research, this watch (and especially this caseback) was developed by Omega with a few prototypes, but was never released to the public. The few examples that do exist are likely to have come out of Omega's workshops unofficially, and were sometimes mounted on existing parts. Circa 2005 Diameter 42 mm
