LEVILLAIN Ferdinand (1837-1905) and BARBEDIENNE Ferdinand (1837-1905)
Pair of bronze vases with brown patina and gilded highlights in the form of antique-style urns with circular decoration of Bacchus masks under an olive branch on which rests a thyrse, openwork handles underlined by bucranes with garlands of flowers and fruit, tripod base with busts of Hercules.
Cast by Barbedienne, signed.
Late 19th century.

It is possible that this type of vase was edited from the bronze vase exhibited by Ferdinand Levillain (Paris, 1837-1905) at the 1875 Salon under the title "Le Sacrifice". It was included in the catalog published by Barbedienne in 1880 under the title Amphore.
