Philippe GROUVELLE (1757-1806) literary scholar, in 1792 secretary to the Executive Council, then ambassador to Denmark and member of parliament. L.A.S., Copenhagen 15 frimaire III (December 5, 1794), to his friend the writer GINGUENÉ; 4 pages in-4. ... "I have known and felt your misfortunes. I was informed that the Feuille villageoise was the monster's great grievance against you. [...] Like me, you had the courage, and more than me, the talent, to tell the truth. Besides, the Tyrant knew more about me than I could tell him, and I'm assured that his lists bear the proof. [...] with what joy I learned of the worthy reparation made to you by national justice; I was moved to tears". Grouvelle sends Ginguené, Garat and Siéyès a piece of writing "for the use of benevolent and ill-educated foreigners", translated into German, Danish and Swedish: "this apology of the revolutionary regime does not apply to the last four or five months of the Neronian domination of the oligarchs of 9 Thermidor".
