Émile Driant dit DANRIT (1855-1916). 4 autograph manuscripts. Important first draft and working manuscripts, heavily crossed out and corrected [La Guerre de demain]; approx. 220 fol. or in-4 pages. This is the draft of the first volume of the cycle, La Guerre de forteresse (or La Guerre des forts), published in 1888; it comprises 28 chapters, and a Conclusion; chapters II, X-XVI, XXVI are missing. Attached are 2 ff. of plans and cuttings; 2 manuscripts of Impressions d'Allemagne (11 and 17 p. in-4); plus a L.A.S. with sketches from illustrator Paul COUSTURIER to Captain Danrit, February 10, 1889. Au-dessus du Continent noir, [1911]; approx. 300 pages in-fol. or in-4. It comprises 12 chapters and an Epilogue; from chap. V onwards, most chapters are in double or even triple version, as is the Epilogue. Enclosed is the typescript of a libretto for a large-scale operetta, Ourida, taken from Danrit's book. Les Robinsons de l'Air, [1908]; 17-page folio. Beginning of clean-up (chap. I to IV), with drawn map, clipping and photos of zeppelins. Robinsons sous-marins; 16 fol. pages. "Cinematographic tableaux" for a film adaptation: 15 tableaux and an epilogue; typescript enclosed. Enclosed: - a proof copy of Robinsons de l'Air (1908), bound, with map of the North Pole annotated by Danrit; - a proof copy of Robinsons sous-marins (1908), bound, with photo of his two sons pasted on; - 2 typescripts of an unpublished short story, Veille de bataille; and the typescript of the epilogue to L'Aviateur du Pacifique.
