"Blaise et Babet", France, circa 1783 A pair of octagonal cardboard hand screens, painted in gouache with flowers and trophies, and adorned in the center with an oval engraving illustrating a scene from the comedy "Blaise et Babet" first performed at the theater in Paris in 1783. Both bear the name of the Parisian publisher Petit: "A Paris chez Petit, rue du Petit-Pont, à l'image Notre-Dame N°12". Turned wooden handles. -One is numbered "1". The reverse bears two couplets and the romance from the first scene. Height 40.7 cm -The second is numbered "6" and bears the last dialogues of the piece. Height 36.5 cm (wear, stains)
