The birth of the Dauphin, Paris, December 1781 Cardboard hand screen, engraved and enhanced with gouache. The reverse is numbered "3" in a series of 6 screens. Its main subject is "La piété du roi et sa libéralité". This series of hand screens was advertised in the "Journal de Paris" in December 1781. It celebrates the birth of Louis-Joseph, Dauphin of France, son of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette, born in October 1781 at the Château de Versailles. Turned wooden handle. Height 41.5 cm (good condition)
