"Les deux avares", France, circa 1780 Pair of cardboard hand screens, painted with gouache and decorated in the center with an oval engraving. One numbered "1" and the second "5" illustrated after the comedy "Les deux avares" performed in Paris. Both bear the name of the Parisian publisher Petit: "A Paris chez Petit, rue du Petit-Pont, à l'image Notre-Dame". Height 27.7 cm (missing handles, wear, stains)
