FRENCH SCHOOL Second half of the 18th century Surroundings of Jean Valade (1710 - 1787) Presumed portrait of Louis-René-Madeleine de LATOUCHE-TREVILLE (1745-1804), wearing a short powdered wig and the Order of Saint-Louis on his cuirass. Oval pastel H. 65 - L. 53 cm Provenance: Still in the family to this day. Louis - René Levassor comte de La Touche - Treville, after taking part in the American War of Independence, was elected deputy for Montargis at the National Assembly in Versailles (1789), then appointed Vice - Admiral of the Brest fleet under the Empire.
