On the reverse of the frame, two labels with numbers, and around the edges, text elements printed in Italian.
Analogies: 1 - Madrid, Museo de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Canvas; 97 x 81 cm) ;
2 - Messina, Museo Nazionale (Canvas; 100 x 75 cm), considered a work by Ribera's workshop (L'Opera completa del Ribera, catalog by Nicola Spinosa, no. 27 c - Milano 1978).
Two other workshop replicas of similar dimensions, held in private collections, are cited by Nicolas Spinosa (Cf. idem 27 a & b).
One version, considered to be by Ribéra (canvas; 103.5 x 70.5 cm), was auctioned by the Farsetti auction house in Prato (Tuscany) on November 09, 2007.
