Based on the composition in the Uffizi Museum in Florence (Cf. Mina Gregori, Le Musée des Offices et le Palais Pitti, no. 232, p.187 - Mengès 1994).
The signature, or annotation, on the lower left refers to the Spanish painter Eduardo Zamacois Y Zabala (Bilbao 1842 - Madrid 1871), three-time medalist at the Paris Salon (1862, 1864 & 1867).
