La suppression des barrières d'octroi, France, 1791 A large, folded, revolutionary fan with a double sheet of engraved, color-enhanced paper. In the center, perched on a cart loaded with barrels of wine, peasants cheerfully celebrate the end of octroi barriers and the payment of taxes to enter Paris. On the sides, vases of flowers and verses celebrating "L'heureuse abondance ou l'abolition des entrées le 1er mars 1791". Green paper reverse. Wooden frame. Varnished plumes. H.t. 40.4 cm-H.f. 20.2 cm (good condition, wear, cuts)
