                        Émile Othon FRIESZ (1879-1949).
L.A.S. with DRAWING, Cap-Brunmardi [April 13, 1926], to his friend and collector Léon PÉDRON; 6 pages in-4 addressed to his villa Les Jarres.
Beautiful letter adorned with a large pen-and-ink drawing.
First, he gives news of his wife Andrée's health. He has asked his concierge to arrange for Bellier to come to his studio to pick up La Naissance d'Adam and Coïmbra, with Lautrec's drawing. Two of his paintings are about to go on sale: "I'll leave them to defend themselves, as I must reserve my efforts for your sale [June 2, 1926], which I'll try to attend"... He questions Hessel's assessment of the Corots; as for Van Gogh's Bouquet, "it's an old one, but certainly his"; but he advises them to be withdrawn from the sale. "Your big prices are elsewhere, and Pissarro in particular must be very expensive. Les Tuileries is a stunning canvas, among others, and Renoir"... He undertakes to do the large decoration for Pédron's vestibule, for which he draws: "The title 'The Lazy Man' in the foreground a reclining sailor lets the little sailboat go, it's at the foot of a beautiful pine tree on the right rock corner of cove with silhouettes of bathers that the lazy man doesn't care about either, beeeautiful sunset sky"...
