LABORDE (Alexandre, comte de). De l'esprit d'association dan - Lot 292
LABORDE (Alexandre, comte de). De l'esprit d'association dans tous les intérêts de la communauté. Paris, Gide fils, 1818. In-8, half marbled basane, spine decorated with fillets, orange parts, yellow edges, shagreened paper boards (Binding of the period). First edition. A famous traveler, State Councillor and Member of Parliament, Alexandre de Laborde was the introducer in France of mutual education and one of the first to defend and prove the usefulness of associations, which he called for to be widely extended, surprisingly prefiguring on this point the Tocqueville of La Démocratie en Amérique. A fine copy.
