First edition of this important summary of the Revolution written by a royalist.
Bertrand de Molleville (1744-1818), was Minister of the Navy, then in charge of the King's secret police for surveillance of the Jacobins. Arrested for plotting the escape of the royal family, he nevertheless managed to reach England, where he wrote his memoirs. The last four volumes were written by Delisle de Sales, and a fifteenth, censored by the imperial police, never saw the light of day.
A folding map to serve as a history of the campaign of the coalition armies under the Duke of Brunswick in 1792, and a facsimile plate (t. VIII, p. 452).
A beautifully bound copy in shagreened calf.
Some foxing on endpapers and occasional foxing on titles. Two headpieces restored, small bump to edge of volume XII.
