First edition of this work by Servan, which deals with the legislation of finance, commerce, agriculture and slavery, which he strongly condemns: Mais du premier moment où j'ai prononcé le nom du Commerce, celui des Nègres me presse & me tourmente. I hear cries; I see chains; & humanity never ceases to say to me in my heart: speak to them of their African horrors (pp. 118-122).
