First edition of this collection of short stories, illustrated with 17 handsome copper-engraved figures after Freudenberg and Moreau le jeune.
The short stories are taken from Monument du costume, and the engravings are reductions of the large prints in Restif's book, which was published in folio format in 1789.
Copy of Ludovic Halévy (1834-1908), with his bookplate, playwright who co-wrote the libretto of Carmen with Meilhac.
Spine slightly faded.
