ODOLANT-DESNOS (Pierre-Joseph). Mémoires historiques sur la ville d'Alençon et sur ses seigneurs. Alençon, Malassis le jeune, 1787. 2 volumes in-8, marbled calf, ornate spine, red and green titles, red edges (Binding of the period).
First edition, with 5 engraved plates, including 3 fold-outs (notably a view of Alençon castle and a facade of the town's Notre-Dame church).
The historian Odolant-Desnos (1722-1801) was a member of several learned societies in his native Alençon, and left over 100 in-4 manuscript volumes filled with research on Normandy (cf. Frère, II, 348).
