First edition of the first natural classification of plants, presented by naturalist Antoine-Laurent Jussieu (1748-1836) (Pritzel, no. 4549).
The publication of this work in July 1789 was another decisive event, as much more than an impetus to taxonomy, a new order was established (Jacques Quentin in En français dans le texte, n°185).
Spotted endpapers. Binding restored at head, corners and spine; upper hinge cracked again.
