CONDILLAC(Étienne Bonnot de). Le Commerce et le gouvernement - Lot 27
CONDILLAC(Étienne Bonnot de). Le Commerce et le gouvernement, considérés relativement l'un à l'autre. Amsterdam, Paris, Jombert et Callot, 1776. 2 parts in one volume in-8, marbled calf, triple fillet, ornate spine, red parts, red edges (Period binding). First edition, with errata on page VI. Hailed by Schumpeter and Macleod as one of the most important contributions to political economy in the 18th century. It contains the first modern elaboration of the theory of value, and is one of the most relevant attempts of its century to establish political economy as a science. Condillac defended economic liberalism and free trade, while opposing the theoretical foundations given to them by the Physiocrats. A fine copy, despite restoration to the headpieces.
