BALZAC (Honoré). Les Contes drolatiques. Paris, Adolphe Delahays, 1861. In-8, green morocco, decorated in the style of Du Seuil, spine decorated with red pieces, inner lace, gilt head, untrimmed, triple guard (Belz-Niedrée). Sixth edition, illustrated with the 425 drawings by Gustave Doré from the 1855 edition (except the frontispiece, omitted in the printing). One of 25 copies on China paper, which are believed to have been printed on the original woodcuts, this one in the name of Delahays, the publisher who had bought back from Garnier the stock of the 1855 edition which was not selling well. Very fresh binding. Some spotting on the edges and inside BALZAC (Honoré de). Les Contes drolatiques. Paris, Garnier frères, s.d. In-8, red morocco, triple fillet, spine decorated in the style of the XVIth century around a mosaic cartouche of green morocco, inner lace, gilt head, untrimmed (Hardy Mennil). Seventh edition, illustrated with the 425 drawings by Gustave Doré from the 1855 edition. From the library of Alfred Piat (ex-libris). Upper spine cracked for a few centimeters, hinge of the second plate fragile. Top of the second plate discolored.
