Important MÉCHED AMOGLI carpet (Persia), end of 19th century, beginning of 20th century Dimensions : 515 x 340cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A charcoal field hosts a luxuriant plant decoration, "with the airs of mosaic". Twigs in convolutions, flowery rosettes, cruciform flowers, leaves and florets form this inextricable "plant carpet". Six polychrome counter borders frame the main fuchsia, all seven being with multicolored flowered garlands. Carpet of great class. Bibliography : - The MacMILLAN atlas of RUGS and CARPETS, page 154
