Jean-Baptiste COFFINHAL (1762-1794) judge then vice-president of the Revolutionary Court, he showed himself to be ruthless; arrested after the 9 thermidor, he was guillotined. P.S., Aurillac February 4, 1793; 1 page folio, vignette Département du Cantal with Phrygian cap stuck on instead of the arms cut out on the letterhead Les Administrateurs composant le Directoire du Département du Cantal, red wax seal (crushed). Rare document co-signed by 6 other members of the Directory of Cantal, certifying that "Jean-Claude Edain was appointed by a large majority Captain of the seventh Company of the National Volunteers of the Second Battalion of the Department", on September 10, 1792... Coffinhal signs as Attorney General syndic.
