Louis DAUBENTON (1716-1800) naturalist, collaborator of Buffon (Academy of Sciences). L.A.S., Paris May 9, 1793, to the citizen Bernardin de SAINT-PIERRE, intendant of the Jardin des Plantes, in Chantilly ; 1 page and a half in-4, address with broken red wax seal. When he received his letter yesterday, he was with citizen LAKANAL, of the Committee of Public Instruction, "on the article of the empty barrels of flour [...] the sixty barrels will be sent today". He is worried "about cit. Valencienne about the recruitment; it was decided yesterday in the section that a proclamation would be made three days in a row to offer three hundred pounds to the citizens who would like to enroll voluntarily, and that if, at the end of this time, the number was not complete, lots would be drawn.
