Jacques CATHELINEAU (1759-1793) Vendéen chief, first generalissimo of the Catholic and Royal Army. P.S., April 2, 1793; 1 oblong page in-12 (engraved portrait attached). Extremely rare document from the beginning of the Vendée War, three months before Cathelineau's death. "On April 2, 1793, we, the commander of the Catholic army, allow the said Venant Prudence to have his freedom by presenting himself every day at the Committe of Chemillé. The document was stamped on April 2, 1793 by "Denay member".
