Pierre-Ambroise-François CHODERLOS DE LACLOS (1741-1803) writer, author of Les Liaisons dangereuses, and general. P.S. "P. Choderlos", also signed by ten members of the Committee of Correspondence of the Society of Friends of the Constitution, Paris January 14, 1791, to the members of a Society; 1 page in-fol., vignette and letterhead of the Society of Friends of the Constitution. Rare letter from Laclos who was one of the first to join the Jacobins. He congratulates a Society for its "formal adhesion" to the Jacobins: "By knowing each other better, one esteems oneself more, especially when one tends to such an essentially praiseworthy goal, that to protect the happy completion of the Constitution. [...] believe that your patriotic devotion will not disappoint the different painters of the revolution"... The other signatories are: the president VILLARS; the secretary Donatien-Marie-Joseph de Vimeur de ROCHAMBEAU; Guillaume de BONNECARRÈRE; Rousseau; Duvernel; Pieyre; H.F. Verchère; Jacques-Antoine CREUZÉ-LATOUCHE; duke of AIGUILLON; Théodore LAMETH. The n° 6 of the Journal des Amis de la Constitution by P. Choderlos, ci-devant de Laclos, January 4, 1791 (in-8, stapled with its cover printed on blue paper) is joined. Former collection André Saudemont (15-16 March 1983, n° 482).
