Extremely rare documents of this curious agitator. LeTriomphe des braves Parisiens, sur les ennemis du bien public, by M. Jacques Roux, " Priest of the diocese of Angoulême, Apostle & Martyr of the Revolution ". The text is preceded by a "Speech of the most energetic patriotism, dedicated to the Citizen-soldiers of the Capital, to all their Federated Brothers, friends and defenders of Liberty": "This Speech bursting with feelings of the most religious patriotism was pronounced with warmth & dignity, in the Church of Saint-Thomas de Conac, to the satisfaction of the Inhabitants, who idolized their Vicar, & to the great applause of thirty officers of the National Guard of the canton, who only saw him leave with tears of despair"... According to him, the grace of God works for the French people, so that "a tyrannized people, pressed without measure, bent since twelve centuries under the yoke of the hardest slavery, awakes suddenly from a deep sleep, & breaks in rage the fetters which it bit while shivering"... Extremely rare first edition of one of the first prroductions of the author, in which he reveals for the first time his ideas of egalitarian revolution.30 April 30, 1792, "the 4th year of Liberty on the 1st of Equality", P.S. as President of the General Assembly of the Section des Gravilliers, co-signed by 3 other members, order of arrest "for proof of uncivism", and imprisonment at the Abbey, of the sieurs Rebourg, Morelle and La Goupillière (the latter will be massacred a few days later).
