Charles-Henri de SAPINAUD de LA RAIRIE (1760-1829) Vendéen general. L.A.S. "de Sapinaud Lt général", Paris September 24, 1815, to a baron; 1 page in-4. He conveys the gratitude of his cousin Sapinaud de Boishuguet, "father of the Chevalier de Sapinaud in whom you are willing to take an interest so that he may be received into the royal guard." As for himself, he can "from the favorable reception that the king has made to my request give me up to the hope of being a peer of France and a red cordon [....] But whatever my fate, the king and honor will be my motto as it was for ten of my people, of my name, who all fought under the banner of the Lilies"...
