LE TROSNE (Guillaume-François)]. Letters to a friend, on the - Lot 67
LE TROSNE (Guillaume-François)]. Letters to a friend, on the advantages of free trade in grain and the danger of prohibitions. Amsterdam, & found in Paris, Desaint, 1768. In-12, paperback, untrimmed, marbled paper cover and dominoté paper reinforcement on the spine (Binding of the time). Goldsmiths, n°10432.4. - INED, n°2874. First edition, rare. The question of the grain trade focused the attention of several economists in the 18th century, so Le Trosne (1728-1780) addressed the subject as early as 1765 with a pamphlet entitled La liberté du commerce des grains, toujours utile et jamais nuisible. Through his six letters, he reaffirmed his position as a supporter of liberalization, so that the Trade of the first commodity would henceforth be governed only by these two maxims..., Laissez faire et laissez passer (p. 168). Copy as issued, bound in marbled paper cover.
