FIX (Theodore). Monthly journal of political... - Lot 54 - Rossini
FIX (Theodore). Monthly journal of political economy. Paris, Au Bureau du Journal, Renard, Levrault, 1833-1834. 12 issues in 2 volumes in-8, bradel cartonnage, smooth decorated spine (Modern pastiche binding). Coquelin & Guillaumin, t. II, p. 530. Head of collection, complete with the first 12 issues. This unusual journal, founded and directed by Théodore Fix (1800-1846), a Swiss economist who was a disciple of Malthus, appeared from July 1833 to 1836 and comprises five volumes in all. The first volume opens with an interesting article explaining the purpose, principles and laws of political economy. Other writings published in these two volumes include an article by Sismondi entitled De la condition dans laquelle il convient de placer les nègres en les affranchissement, and Villermé's oral report on the work of the Baron de Morogues, Recherches des causes de la richesse et de la misère des peuples. The bookbinder has mistakenly inverted the tomaison of the two volumes. The false title and the title of volume I are missing.
