CORMERÉ (Guillaume-François de Mahy, Baron de). New research - Lot 44
CORMERÉ (Guillaume-François de Mahy, Baron de). New research and considerations on finance. London, 1789. 2 volumes in-8, fawn half-basane, smooth decorated spine, red title and tomaison coins, yellow edges (contemporary binding). INED, #3006. - Stourm, p. 28. Original edition, adorned with 27 (2 + 25) folding pictures, printed or engraved, and a pretty watercoloured folding card indicating the guards who require the General Farm's collections for milkings, gabelles and tobacco. This book provides a complete picture of finances at the beginning of the Revolution. Cormeré, an official of the general control whose skills Dupont de Nemours boasted, explains well the financial mechanism of the time but adds developments relating to his own reform plans (Stourm). From the P. de La Morandière library, with ex-libris. Small spots and freckles on a few pages. Slit with two jaws, rubbed binding.
