Höroldt, the genius of the painted decoration of the Meissen manufactory, developed from the 1725s a large number of coloured backgrounds, in reference to the Chinese models. He developed this purple background towards the end of 1731. The decorations were then placed in cartridges according to a rigorous principle of organization, highlighted by these coloured backgrounds.
